Can you play texas holdem with antes and NO blinds? Here is why i ask. We have been playing a dealers choice home game and only two players have been dealing Holdem when its their turn.everyone else is dealing games like stud where everyone antes. so there has been some complaints about it not beng fair that the player two seats to the left of the holdem dealer is the only one putting in a big blind. The small blind is equal to the ante for the other forms of poker. I sugessted playing with one small blind and no big blind, or everyone just putting in an ante. If friends of mine are playing a cash game, and a big hand occurs with a lot of money. Omaha Hi is dealt and the community cards are 10 10 2 2 4. Player 1 only has a 10. Player 2 has two 4's giving him a full house. Player 1 flips his 10 and player 2 flips his 4's but with a sigh of defeat and says player 1 has won. The cards are given to the next dealer to shuffle and player 2 realizes he should have won the hand. I was playing poker yesterday and had a hand where betting went through to the river. After the river card, there were 4 diamonds on the table. Player A had made a straight, and had a diamond in his hand, but called his hand a straight after turning his cards over. After Player B called his flush, Player A recognized he had a flush also, and subsequently had the better flush. I am at a 2 table NLHE Tournament. We are down to final table with 6 or 7 players left and blinds are 5-10. Original buy in stacks were 80 units. Donkey has chip lead with about 210 chips and raises UTG for 25 units. Two folds and I raise all in with pocket 8's for 120 total and all players fold back to original raiser. Total pot right now is 160 and Donkey has to call 95 more. Donkey calls and shows AK offsuit and ends up hitting the King and winning. Did the Donkey make the right decision in calling my all in bet with his AK as I think or am I just tilted because I lost? Donkey is adamant that "The Math" was correct for him to make the call in this situation as he felt that he was at worst a coin flip and at best would have me dominated as he claims he was pretty sure I would not have made that move if I had AA or KK which were the only two hands he was not racing against or beating. I had a situation on sat night we were down to 4 players. There were 2 of us betting we made our intitial bets the flop was two 4's and a 7 I had a king 4 so i went all in. He called when I flipped my 4 he made a motion with his cards face down to throw the cards into the pile. The dealer flipped a 8 then a 2. I thought I had won w/3of a kind. He said wait a minute then grabed his cards & had a pair of 2's giving him a full house on the river. We debated as to whether his action of throwing the cards in face down would constitute a muck. What is the best system to rank/rate players over time playing Texas hold ‘em? We have a group of friends that play Texas Hold ‘Em weekly. (8 players on the table; $1 buy in, winner gets $5, 2nd gets $2, 3rd gets $1). I’m thinking of keeping stats for a year, making it $2 to play and the top 3 rated players at the end of the year will split the extra $1 per game pot. I want to set it up so the winner will be who played most consistent, not who showed up most nights. I’ve thought of using the ELO rating system w/ a K factor of 10 to rate the players against each other. Or another thought is: Ranking 4 categories and weighting their worth accordingly: 35% - winnings/gms played ($/gm) 35% - Place finished 20% - Win Percentage 10% - Total winnings Then at the end of the year see whose ratings are the highest. 6 players at the table. Blinds are 150-300, Under the gun limps in with 300. 5th player folds and 6th player goes ALL_IN with 350. Dealer calls, thus puts in 350, Small Blind calls thus puts in 200 (150 already in + 150 +50) Big Blind calls thus puts in 50 (300 already in + 50) . CAN "UNDER THE GUN" GO ALL IN OR ARE HIS CHOICES JUST limited to folding or calling by putting another 50 .
